Fall / Winter Trend: Leather Skirts

2 comentarios

Well well! After taking a look at the fashion magazines I got last week, it seems there are tons of trends for this fall / winter season.

Today I want to start with one that will be very easy to achieve: leather skirts! I bet you have one at home, somewhere, hidden at the back of the closet. Or you can probably get one for fairly cheap in a thrift store =) That's the good thing about comeback fashion trends haha

But, if you want to purchase them on Etsy, what can you find? Here I have a selection of leather skirts I found:
Sellers, from left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): tialeyvintage, LuvLeeDayz, PertVintage, ObladiObladaVintage, LuvLeeDayz, emeraldvintage, valerieann, thecovetedshoppe, ObladiObladaVintage
I suppose the important thing about leather skirts is what to wear them with.
First of all, try any color! Not just black. The latest trend is to wear them in any color.
Wear tank tops, sweaters, tshirts.. almost anything!
For the shoes choose boots or ankle boots.

Do you like this trend? Will you be wearing it? I probably won't. I'm not much of a fan of skirts or dresses, even less in fall. From September to June I only wear pants hahaha =)

Monday Giveaway - Steampunk inspired cuff

48 comentarios

So sorry last week I didn't really post much! It was a little of chaos. Trying to apply for a job isn't as easy as I thought hahaha!
But! I bought a couple fashion magazines (something I only do twice a year lol), inStyle and Vogue. And Vogue was an especial edition and had 2 really thick magazines, in total weighted more than 2.5 kg!!!! Can you believe that? So soon I will have lots of reviews of the latest fall/winter trends ;)

This week: Steampunk inspired cuff by lovemaryxoxo

This cuff is fabulous! I'm liking more and more the steampunk objects! =)

The artist says:

The cuff is made from man made ribbon and antiqued chain. It measures 4cm x21.5cm = 1.5 inches x 8.5 inches and can stretch. It's of an 1890s sort of Edwardian style. Very vintage in feel.

Product Review!

4 comentarios

First of all,I hope you like the new look of the blog! For those who read this blog through RSS or Email, please come check it out and tell me what you think. =)

Charliemotel did the illustration for my blog banner. Exactly what I wanted, a fashion girl! =) I hope you like it too. After that I added the lovely illustration to a banner and a few more details and voilá! New blog.
Believe me, Meg (from charliemotel) makes stunning illustrations!!

Be sure to check her two shops if you want a print or custom illustration:

Well, back by popular demand, another product review! This time 2 items: short sleeved hoodie from angeldamico and earrings by iomiss. I have to say that I love both!!! =)

The hoodie from angeldamico is fabulous. It is the first short sleeved hoodie I have and I love wearing it! It's perfect for spring, summer and autumn =) I loved this print but it was on a shirt so I asked the seller if a hoodie could be made with the same print. Communication was great, and the final item is fabulous! Very well finished and the color is just great! It fits like a glove (I got a L size) and it looks very cute. The colors are vibrant and deep (yeah the photos I take are still pretty bad in that sense), it is white on the back and has 2 small pockets, lovely!

The earrings from iomiss were a birthday gift from my father. But don't think he has that good taste, I made a wish list for him :D I tell you, you should do the same for Christmas and Bdays, my father loves Etsy for this reason! He doesn't have to hunt the shops downtown anymore haha. I chose these earrings because I love green and purple, and this combination with black and silver looks great. And I wasn't disappointed, they are lovely! They hang perfectly and I highly recommend everybody to get a pair. I love them and wear them all the time.

These are the original photos of the items I bought:

I do totally recommend buying from both sellers: angeldamico (superb prints and top styles) and iomiss (fabulous earrings).

I give the hoodie a 5 out of 5 and the earrings also a 5/5 in seller's communication, product, finishing touch, and quality.

Hope this review was helpful for you! :) And yeah yeah I know! The quality of photos is really bad! ack =(

If you would like to review a handmade item you bought online (Etsy or not) please let me know!

Get Johnny Depp's look!

4 comentarios

WHAAAAA! I know I know. I don't want to look like Johnny Depp. BUT. You might want your men (aka boyfriend, friend, husband, father, grandfather, son) to look a little bit more like him. Why? Oh well, because he has a rad style! Don't fool yourself, the hat, glasses and everything else makes him even hotter! haha

While most of us remember him dressed as a pirat (maybe the hottest and gayest? pirat to ever appear on the screen) his regular style is also very fashionable. So what can we find in Etsy for the Johnny Depp in your life?

depp

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): Delilah42, NeverNeverDesigns, CubistLiterature, VintageEtc, elizabethwrenvintage, theVINTAGEward, seekconnectlove, abrokenspoke, laboheme, stewwie, aPassionForFashion, jenn3star, NicoleLorentz, transaction, lizjac, theVINTAGEward

I'm not going to tell you how to do your hair or makeup to look like him :P haha but you will indeed need makeup if you try to look like Jack Sparrow! =)

Get a hat, a pair of old fashioned sunglasses or glasses, a lot of leather and small beads necklaces and there you go! Add a leather cuff and a bandana as scarf or cuff for the extra touch =) Voilá! Your own Mr Depp.

I hope you liked this article and, what other men would you like to see featured? I am also thinking on doing movie/tv series characters. Who would you like to see here?

Fashionably delicious - World Recipes - Baklava

3 comentarios

A few days ago I announced a new section in the blog, world recipes!

Being fashionable is more than wearing clothes that look good on you, is also being a great host when you have guests eating at home. And there is nothing more handmade and home cooked food =)

I offered everyone to send me their recipes and already have a few available. I know I announced that the first recipe would be my own, but didn't have time to put together the sangria recipe (lol, like it is THAT difficult haha), so here you have the first recipe in this blog! Baklava, brought to you by the super awesome and multi talented Anna.

Baklava or baklawa is a rich sweet pastry typical from former Ottoman countries (Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, ...)

BAKLAVA
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 cup finely chopped almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tspn cinnamon
1/2 tspn cloves, ground
12 sheets filo pastry

SYRUP
2 1/2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 cup honey
1 lemon slice
1 cinnamon stick
3 cloves

Combine nuts and sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
Butter a rectangle baking tray. Lay two sheets of the filo pastry onto the tray, brush with butter, and sprinkle on some of the nut mixture. Continue alternating the 2 buttered filo sheets with the nut mixture, ending with two filo sheets on top.

Cut the baklava with a knife in serving size pieces. Pour remaining butter over the top and sprinkle with water.
Place into a moderate oven (180C) and bake for 45 mins.

For the syrup, boil sugar, water, lemon slice, cinnamon and cloves for 1 min. Add honey and boil for extra 2-3 mins, removing honey froth from side of pot as it forms.
Once the baklava has finished in the oven, remove and poor the syrup over it.
Leave it to cool down to room temperature and serve.

Yummy!

I have read that instead of walnuts you can also use pistachios. Try that version too! =)

Thanks a lot Anna for this fabulous recipe! =) Please take a look at her shops to see her creativity: art and jewelry!

If you want to send a recipe to be featured in this blog, please contact me(email on the bottom left column), and your shop/blog will be featured at the end of the recipe too.
