Gift Guide - Jewelry Lovers

3 comentarios

This time the gift guide is written by me, I jumped into my favourites and selected the jewelry items that I liked most. Obviously all of them (or at least most of them) are jewelry for women. After all, most women are addicted to jewelry! (I know I am!)

Every family has a member who loves earrings, necklaces, rings or bracelets. In my case it is earrings! So I hope this gift guide helps you out when choosing a present for that person.

Some of these items are quite expensive, that is why they still are in my favourites and not in my pocket! haha And I have many many more in my favourites, maybe some other day I will share them with you too =)

Enjoy!

Gift Guide - Warm Ideas

2 comentarios

Today I am using a new tool to display the selected etsy items intead of images and later the links. From now on, if this works correctly (I hope the ones getting updates by email can see it fine) I will be using this method where you can direcly click on the images, like an Etsy treasury.
Thanks a lot to etsy admins and specially LazyTcrochet that sent it to me!

Today's gift guide: Warm Ideas by Jenny from thepaintedlily. Thanks!

In my neck of the woods, it is just now getting cooler and the leaves on the trees are beginning to glow in that lovely way that always makes me feel reminiscent and long for warm nights by the fire. This time of year always makes me slow down and turn to nature... see what I might have missed after all the whirl of activity and fun of the last few months. I have found some wonderfully crafted items on Etsy that I hope might inspire you to settle down, warm up, relax and embrace the change of seasons in your own way...

Hope you liked the gifts showcased here. Good luck on your Christmas shopping!

Gift Guide - Crafty Kids

0 comentarios

Another gift guide! This time of the year is a little crazy with all the gift hunting and so on, so that is why I am trying to post as many gift guides as possible before Christmas in case anybody needs inspiration =)

I think this one is uber cute: Items to get kids into crafting! Thanks to Kate of katedowding

Sit a kid in front of a playstation or x-box and they will more than likely pick up the controller and instinctively know how to hold it, what the butons do and how to make Lara Croft jump off the ledge, make her spin around that pole thingy and land elegantly on the other side and not in a crumpled heap on the ground (ouch! thats enough of my frustrations)

Sit a kid at a table with a needle and thread or a stack of card and glue, will they get stuck in? Well probably, yes, kids are awkward like that and can turn their hand to anything. But, if your children think crafting is all about drinking tea while knitting a bumper supply of christmas jumpers, then take a gander and these 'make your own' kits which should steer them away from the TV screen for a little while.

CraftKids

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): kitsandcaboodles, orangemoontoys, feelingfuzzy, sweetpeababy, heatherknitz, MyKangaroo, blackbirdfashion, katedowding, kitsandcaboodles

Gift Guide - Red, Red, Red

0 comentarios

Here you have a new gift guide =) This time: red items! Thanks to Beth of bethan009

Gift Guide - Red, Red, Red

I don’t know about your presents-to-buy list, but mine seems to get longer and longer every year – where do you find enough inspiration (not to mention time and money!)?

Sometimes you find the perfect thing straight away, or someone has been determined enough to tell you what they would like, but most of the time this doesn't seem to happen, and with so much out there it is often hard to know where to begin.

That’s the great thing about these gift guides that Gilbea is co-ordinating – someone else does a bit of the work, and hopefully provides a helping hand and a different perspective.

So, here is my contribution: gifts in the colour red, for the people you know who love a bit of brightness.

Beth

Red

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom: karenfaulknerart, onegarnetgirl, creamrose, Sugarcane, OiOi, quiltification, craftyloren, sugarloop, FireflysTrinkets, lyptis, marsupialmouse, marymeestudio, whichgoose, tinymeat, replicca, frogandtoadsattic

Hope you liked this gift guide for you or your friends who love red! =)

Gift Guide - Ideas for HIM

1 comentarios

We all know men are the hardest to buy a gift for. Unless they have a list of what they want, like my father has lol But if they are not specific about what they want, then it is total nightmare, because most of the times they answer with a "I don't know, get me whatever you want, I don't need anything" ARGHHHH
Of course most men don't appreciate things that don't have a real use, like most women do. Now with the younger generation I think this is changing. Men care more about what they wear, electronic gadgets, games and so on.

I contacted TimothyAdamDesigns because I am clueless when it comes to buy gifts for men, and I thought he could help us out! He is always helping fellow etsy sellers with his tips to promote, set a shop and video tutorials.

So, even if buying something for your father will still be difficult, here I present you a selection of items that could be great gifts for the younger men in your family. All thank Timothy!

Men_TimothyAdams
Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): Shauneil, GetReadySetGO, snowconecollective, TimothyAdamsDesigns, ccce, solidio, mybirch, vital, toybreaker, 1byliz, ashhilton, teaforbini

I hope this helps you out choose some Christmas gifts for your men =) This starts a series of gift guides that I hope to keep writing until Christmas.

Thanks Timothy!

What to wear to a job interview

3 comentarios

Well well! I have a couple job interviews in Madrid this week, so I will be taking the train tomorrow morning and still don't know when I will be back. I won't be able to update the blog, but hopefully this won't last long :P (Meaning I will soon have a job?)

So, I was thinking, what should I wear to a job interview? This is like my first real job interview after graduating. I've read everywhere I should get a conservative two-piece business suitsuit. However, I don't have one, I haven't found one that fits me well, I doubt they will ever fit me well, and I hate them. I have a couple nice jeans and that will have to do. After all, I am applying for a analyst/developer position, so no client interaction is needed. Anyways, I am going to call again the agency today to see if I need to rush to the mall to get a two piece suit :( Let's hope not!

And I don't have a briefcase either! argh! hahaha

So, by those standars, here is what I found in Etsy that would be appropiate for a job interview:

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are: shopgoodgrace, cookiesandcreme, GetReadySetGO, GetReadySetGO, theauroravintage, SarahHoodJewelry, heatherberry, emeraldvintage, acommonthread

Well, we'll see what happens. I know the clothing is important, but I am also sure what you say is important too. And if I dressed like that it'd look like I'm applying for a job at a bank lol

So, any tips for a job interview? Oh yeah, to not chew gum! hahah =) Give me last minute tips and wish me good luck!

Fall / Winter Trend - Sequins

5 comentarios

Whaaaa? yeah, you heard right. Sequins are back. I hope they won't stay long though!

Sequins are fun... but c'mon... a full sequin dress??? Well, seems some famous designers decided it is cool for this season =) Haven't seen any in the shops yet. I don't think they will make it haha
For me sequins are cool, but they should stay out of the clothes lol

So here is what I found in Etsy, there were some pretty cool sequin dresses, if you are in a disco mode hehe

Sequin

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom are: AnnaBlues, greasywaitress, bleuelectric, lyndseylondon, evascloset, CarnivorousDeer, moonshinehill, TheSpinningHand, artish

So, what do you think about this trend? It definitely it is not my style, but, will you be wearing it?

Style question - Feather Headband?

7 comentarios

This is not a style question I am going to answer, it is one I am going to ask to you, my readers! =)

So, I haven't worn a headband since I was a child. I've fallen in love with this feather headbands and I'd love to get one but I'm not sure which one or if they would ever look good on me! HA! My hair is medium length, brown and curly.

Here are my objects of desire:

I have always loved feather fascinators, but I don't feel comfortable wearing things that really stand out, and I've only seen people wearing them on the movies. Nobody here wears fascinators, but headbands yes.

So... should I get a thin or wider one? Or none at all? By the way, I linked the images to the listings so you can appreciate the shop's work, but if you buy them I will have to hunt you down :P

What about you? Any items you desire but don't dare buying? Share them!

For those who don't know her, she is an independent singer/musician. Former member of Frou Frou. Well, that's more or less still her style. And for her looks, I'd say she is someone who definitely buys handmade & vintage!

Let's see what we can find in Etsy to fit her style!

Fall / Winter Trends - Colorful Coats

5 comentarios

This time it seems fashion and me walk different paths (lol, as usual).

I got myself this super cool and fabulous (you can tell I love it!) coat yesterday at Mango:

Even though I saw on some fashion magazines that the "in" thing in coats this winter is to wear a bright colored one, the shops only have dark colored (grey, black, brown) or white (cream, etc) coats. Also some plaid ones too. But that's it. I don't want a colorful coat (I already have one green one for a couple years ago), but I found funny how they are fashionable but not buyable. :D

If you feel you need a bright coat, see what I found at Etsy:

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): heidihodge, Gypsies, lindenlaneclothing, Branches, emeraldvintage, ancestorvintage

Hope you like them! Do you wear a bright colored coat or a dark one?

Fall / Winter Trend: Leather Skirts

2 comentarios

Well well! After taking a look at the fashion magazines I got last week, it seems there are tons of trends for this fall / winter season.

Today I want to start with one that will be very easy to achieve: leather skirts! I bet you have one at home, somewhere, hidden at the back of the closet. Or you can probably get one for fairly cheap in a thrift store =) That's the good thing about comeback fashion trends haha

But, if you want to purchase them on Etsy, what can you find? Here I have a selection of leather skirts I found:
Sellers, from left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): tialeyvintage, LuvLeeDayz, PertVintage, ObladiObladaVintage, LuvLeeDayz, emeraldvintage, valerieann, thecovetedshoppe, ObladiObladaVintage
I suppose the important thing about leather skirts is what to wear them with.
First of all, try any color! Not just black. The latest trend is to wear them in any color.
Wear tank tops, sweaters, tshirts.. almost anything!
For the shoes choose boots or ankle boots.

Do you like this trend? Will you be wearing it? I probably won't. I'm not much of a fan of skirts or dresses, even less in fall. From September to June I only wear pants hahaha =)

Monday Giveaway - Steampunk inspired cuff

48 comentarios

So sorry last week I didn't really post much! It was a little of chaos. Trying to apply for a job isn't as easy as I thought hahaha!
But! I bought a couple fashion magazines (something I only do twice a year lol), inStyle and Vogue. And Vogue was an especial edition and had 2 really thick magazines, in total weighted more than 2.5 kg!!!! Can you believe that? So soon I will have lots of reviews of the latest fall/winter trends ;)

This week: Steampunk inspired cuff by lovemaryxoxo

This cuff is fabulous! I'm liking more and more the steampunk objects! =)

The artist says:

The cuff is made from man made ribbon and antiqued chain. It measures 4cm x21.5cm = 1.5 inches x 8.5 inches and can stretch. It's of an 1890s sort of Edwardian style. Very vintage in feel.

Rules to enter:
  1. Visit lovemaryxoxo's shop and pick a favourite item.
  2. Leave a comment in this post with your favourite item and a way to contact you (email or etsy link. Leave a contact or I won't be able to place you in the draft).
  3. I will select the winner from the comments with a random number generator.

Get Johnny Depp's look!

4 comentarios

WHAAAAA! I know I know. I don't want to look like Johnny Depp. BUT. You might want your men (aka boyfriend, friend, husband, father, grandfather, son) to look a little bit more like him. Why? Oh well, because he has a rad style! Don't fool yourself, the hat, glasses and everything else makes him even hotter! haha

While most of us remember him dressed as a pirat (maybe the hottest and gayest? pirat to ever appear on the screen) his regular style is also very fashionable. So what can we find in Etsy for the Johnny Depp in your life?

depp

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): Delilah42, NeverNeverDesigns, CubistLiterature, VintageEtc, elizabethwrenvintage, theVINTAGEward, seekconnectlove, abrokenspoke, laboheme, stewwie, aPassionForFashion, jenn3star, NicoleLorentz, transaction, lizjac, theVINTAGEward

I'm not going to tell you how to do your hair or makeup to look like him :P haha but you will indeed need makeup if you try to look like Jack Sparrow! =)

Get a hat, a pair of old fashioned sunglasses or glasses, a lot of leather and small beads necklaces and there you go! Add a leather cuff and a bandana as scarf or cuff for the extra touch =) Voilá! Your own Mr Depp.

I hope you liked this article and, what other men would you like to see featured? I am also thinking on doing movie/tv series characters. Who would you like to see here?

Remember the article Get Scarlett Johansson's look?
There I featured a pair of silver earrings by idreamicanfly, which are very similar to a pair I spotted in one of Scarlett's photos:
