Summer/Fall trend - The white shirt!

4 comentarios

I know a while ago I talked about white clothes in general. But yesterday I went shopping downtown and most of the new collection is either for late summer or fall (who wants to buy fall clothes and sweaters in a 30 Celsius degree day???) aaaaand all the shops had in the new collection white shirts/blouses. Yes, with a hippie style.

This summer I realized how nice they are and how they can make anyone look pretty :) And now that they are more popular, I have to say I am starting to like them.

So here I have a small selection of white shirts/blouses I found in Etsy. That's the first two rows. Then the third row are feather dresses! Refinnej commented on Rihanna's get the look post that she wishes somebody in Etsy would make a dress like the one worn by Rihanna in the photo and I found a couple similar ones! :) Hope you like them hehe

Sellers, from left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): leamor, lindenlaneclothing, MinkaArt, cookiesandcreme, VintageEtc, kandisnaks, SHauteCouture, caitmayer, nicolettelefaye

Hope you liked this trend! Will you be wearing it? I already eyed some white shirts I saw in the mall (sorry for not buying handmade this time!!), so maybe soon they are mine mwuahaha!

Get Rihanna's look!

3 comentarios

This week I will talk about how to achieve Rihanna's look with handmade/vintage items I find in Etsy.
She has a distinctively sexy, yet sharp look. Her love of lush colours, luxe fabrics, short hemlines and high waists have earned her a real fashion following.
She loves really short shorts and skirts, fun colors and bold accessories.

And I think Rihanna would love these items, either for everyday wear, a Grammys event or a music video :)

rihanna

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): FablesbyBarrie, cadillaccowboy, debbiesnoflake, GypsyLane, graziolin, orno, MinkaArt, KimBDesigns, MixologyMakeup, LaraMiller, emeraldvintage, hopee, emberlish, redzippervintage, valhallabrooklyn, santokivintage

So you can see her style is quite bold, she loves big hoop earrings and bangles, and anything that is short :D

About her hair, she has changed hair styles quite a lot lately, and I decided to show you a page where you can see all her styles and upload one of your photos to test that style on yourself! :) How cool, right?
Rihanna's hairstyles at thehairstyler

And finally, makeup! I found two awesome videos, inspired in Rihanna's makeup for the music video of Take a bow. The makeup she wears on that video is pretty cool and can look great for a night out!

I hope you have liked this post. Is Rihanna's style your style? Will you incorporate some of these items to your wardrobe? I am already in love with big hoop earrings and bangles!! :)

New Blog Header/Logo

3 comentarios

Well, I suppose I got tired of the current blog header and I want a new one! :)

Since the blog is being featured in different places and is getting more traffic these days I want something new, nice and cool to place in the header!
I took a look at Etsy's illustrators and chose a couple which I contacted wondering if they could design me an illustration: a fashion girl or something like that and if possible also related with handmade.
I don't have any sketches to show here or anything, but I will post an image of each illustrator's art from their shop. Some have already answered, some said they weren't able to do it and some haven't answered yet, but I thought they all deserved credit so here they are!

From left to right, artists are: Serpentine, girlvsworld, Goobeetsa, yaelfran, micawber, myfolklover, lellybelle, MundoGominola, brooklit

Click on the photos to see a full size picture and go to the artist's shop.

Please help me decide!! The images here are not for my blog, just samples of their current work.
But, whose style do you think would fit better the blog??? =) Which one do you like better?
or, if you know other illustrators whose style fits the blog please let me know too :)

Thanks!!

Monday Giveaway - Hat!

107 comentarios

This week we have something totally awesome!... a fabulous hat: Capricious indigo hat by terrygraziano

I have always loved hats so much! I think they give this super cool stylish touch to any outfit. Of course there are hats that are more casual and hats that are more of a cocktail thing, but this one is so cool it can be worn in any occasion!
This hat can be worn many different ways.

Description from the artist:

Capricious is made with a gorgeous indigo cotton, lined in rose red silk, and finished off with a sunny yellow grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon acts as a drawstring to allow you to adjust the size from 22" - 24" (55.88cm - 60.96cm) for a perfect fit. Ribbon color can happily be changed at your request.

Hat arrives in lovely hatbox and includes detailed and illustrated wear and care instructions.

Rules to enter:

  1. Visit terrygraziano's shop and pick a favourite item.
  2. Leave a comment in this post with your favourite item and a way to contact you (email or etsy link. Leave a contact or I won't be able to place you in the draft).

Get Scarlett Johansson's look!

3 comentarios

One of the most popular actresses of the moment, muse of Woody Allen, and now a singer! She always knows how to look good, even with the most regular clothes. Must be her curves! She is not the kind of super thin woman we are used to see in Hollywood, she's more natural and I think that is way so many people like her and so many women want to look like her.

Said to be the new Marilyn Monroe, she always looks stylish and elegant, and here I have a few items I found in Etsy that I think Scarlett herself would love, either for the red carpet or for a regular day.

scarlet

Sellers, left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): ledthread, clairelafaye, reddoll, idreamicanfly, Retrocall, thepebblecollection, softspoken, rockettmansion, caramia1313, ecochic, liinok, OriginalsByLynnette, bellemichou, acbakerapparel, damngoodvintage, Shovava, RedemptionVintage, bunnyboutique, ecochic, Kcoline

And now, some makeup! Thi video is based on when Scarlett had her hair dark, but her makeup basics are the same when she is blond.

For more tips on how to achieve a makeup like Scarlett, take a look at this tutorial at iVillage.co.uk

For the hair I could not find any videos, but here are the basic tips, taken word by word from Associated Content:
Her slightly-longer-than-shoulder-length hair is usually worn in a tussled manner that is styled slightly back and away from her face. She also frequently wears it in a way that locks fall around her forehead and temple areas. She's also known to wear her hair back in a bun or pulled into clips.

And that's it! I hope you liked this article and the items I found. What do you think? Do you already look a little like Scarlett? Or would like to? Any other celebs you would like to see featured here?

Product review!

5 comentarios

I joined Etsy almost 1 year ago, and I started buying things in Christmas. Since then, either as Christmas / birthday presents or as gifts for myself *cough cough* I've gotten a couple fabulous items. Most of them are either jewelry or clothing + bags.
So... since this is a fashion blog, why not review some of the items I got?
I'll start with a top and a bag I got quite a while ago but didn't have the chance of wearing them until Spring.

Yes, I had a pretty bad face that day hahaha and the photos are of very poor quality (very bad color)... I have to fix that for next time.
To the point: the top I'm wearing is from Basho and the bag from pego, and I LOVE THEM!!!

The bag from pego was custom made because I wanted one of her bags but with longer handles. It has 2 great pockets inside and looks very resistant, very good quality. There was some issue with the mail but in the end I got the bag and she was so nice and helpful through all the process.

The shirt from Basho, I ordered a size that was too big but they quickly and very nicely fixed the problem. It has 2 side pockets and it is very comfy and nice. (If you are going to order this model get 1 or 2 sizes smaller than what you usually wear)

So, they are both super great sellers and very professional, and their items are great! The bag is very well finished (better than in most chain shops) and the top is also very well done and the print is super cute :)

These are the original photos of the items I bought:

I do totally recommend buying from both sellers: Basho (great tshirts and tops) and pego (fabulous bags)

I give the top a 5 out of 5 and the bag also a 5/5 in seller's communication, product, finishing touch, and quality.

Hope this review was helpful for you! :) Oh and I promise better photos next time :)

If you would like to review a handmade item you bought online (Etsy or not) please let me know!

In case anyone wants to know, the outfit I'm wearing is: top from basho at etsy, bag from pego at etsy, capri jeans from PullandBear, white sandals from ulanka, and belt I don't remember haha

And the winner of the set of 3 Thank You cards is: windycindy - Congratulations!

Get Audrey Hepburn's look!

6 comentarios

Definitely she is one of the most classy actresses in Hollywood history. She has this unique style that fits her perfectly and that every woman would like to achieve once or twice ;) It never goes out of style because this style means finding the perfect clothes for your shape (basic lines and colors) and wearing them all your life! :)

As Hepburn herself said, "Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large glasses and the little sleeveless dresses."

First of all, usual Audrey clothes are:

  1. For everyday: skinny black jeans, pastel polos, turtle-neck sweaters, ballerina flats.
  2. Formal: simple knee-length black dress
Accessories: oversized sunglasses, white or black gloves for formal nights, leather bag with wooden handles and pearl or diamond necklace and/or earrings.

So let's see what I could find in Etsy that looks like Audrey clothes! :)

audrey

Sellers, from left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): myfavoritevintage, chechi72, myblackdress, thepebblecollection, setene, Hende, michon, VintageFallingLeaves, softspoken, Lecuteoure, flutter, mysweetiepiepie, kultlichnosti, forestofice, hydroxide, bellemichou

Monday Giveaway - Corsage / Brooch

84 comentarios

I know it's not Monday but I am not able to post anything on Monday so I shifted days :)

This one is one of the most fabulous things I have ever given away! It was offered to this blog by the amazing bonzie. I can't stop drooling at her clothes! So today bonzie offers the readers of this blog one of her amazing corsages (brooches): A Haunted Bloom Corsage Large

I love this haunted bloom and I think it would look great for a wedding (bride or guest), and it can be used as a fascinator too (isn't that cool?).

Remember the Get Carrie Bradshaw's look post I did a while ago? This brooch is totally a Carry item! :) She'd love to have one of this.

But, what does the artist have to say about it?

This large romantic layered tattered corsage as a beautiful time worn appeal. Featuring distressed edges and deconstructed French sacking cloth against a rich ivory shimmer organza. A little nest of pearls adorn the centre of this flower.

This piece would make a stunning accessory for your wedding as an addition to your wedding dress or simply wear it as a fascinator. If you are not heading down the aisle anytime soon just add it to your favourite vintage cardigan for instant tattered chic.

This piece measures 6 and a half inches in diameter.

Rules to enter:

  1. Visit bonzie's shop and pick a favourite item.
  2. Leave a comment in this post with your favourite item and a way to contact you (email or etsy link. Leave a contact or I won't be able to place you in the draft).

This giveaway ends 13th July at midnight EST and I will announce the winner on Monday. Good luck!

The previous giveaway still runs until 6th July midnight so keep posting! =) However, I won't be able to announce the winner until Monday 14th due to lack of Internet.

If you are a seller and want to offer an item for a giveaway, contact me (see contact details in last section of left column)

Fashion in Pamplona

0 comentarios

Yup, that's where I live. Ok, the name might not ring a bell, but what if I tell you here is where we have SanFermines? The running of the bulls? Yes... bulls running in the streets lol =) The fiesta became worldwide famous thanks to Hemingway. Now it is rated one of the 5th best parties of the world (in the top 5 there are 3 spanish fiestas - seems we know how to party! lol)
So San Fermines (or the running of the bulls for the rest of the world) starts tomorrow (6th July) and ends the 14th.
Obviously, what does this have to do with fashion?
Well, the city suffers a fashion transformation those 9 days!!
You can totally spot someone from Pamplona (the city population doubles in those dates) because he will be one of the only people wearing: white shirt, white trousers, red neck scarf and red belt.

And then you have the foreigners who mostly wear jeans or those typical safari american shorts LOL with maaaaaaaaaaybe a white shirt and a red neck scarf.
More and more the foreigners try to dress with the "uniform" of the fiesta hehe But there is one thing they don't know!
If you are buying a pais of white trousers, get the crapiest ones you can find cause you'll throw them away at the end of the party (seriously). NEVER and I mean NEVER wear sandals or FLIP FLOPS. Believe me, it's for your own security. The floor is flooded with disgusting substances (lol) + broken glass.

To sum up, San Fermines is definitely one of the best fiestas I have ever seen, if you like to be in a crowded place, and drink a lot :) Definitely worth seeing at least once in a lifetime! And maybe you can run in front of the bulls, right? =) And go see a bullfight (we have a different concept of a bullfight than in the rest of spain, as we only go to drink and throw stuff at people lol I don't remember ever looking at the bulls)

So.... do you want to come next year? =) Dennis Rodman comes every year to run in front of the bulls!

Fashion trend - Ruffles

5 comentarios

Everyday I get in my mail the latest post of the fashion blog New Found Lust by eatsleepcraft. I start my day with that fashion bit and I love it!

So a few weeks ago I read one of her posts about the ruffles trend and loved it so much I had to make my own version of it offering you all the ruffle Etsy items I could find =)

ruffles

Sellers, from left to right, top to bottom, are (link to the item): idea2lifestyle, hollystalder, kimenna, roselabiche, darhling, TickledPinkKnits, Nostalgia, AftonRiver, Silvia66, hollystalder, Makool, tamilyn, PersimmonHill, emmapardos, VC2o, NikkiFaith

I have never been a big fan of ruffles because I always thought it was too girly, but some of these items look really cool! The trick is to not wear a dress full of ruffles... Nothing with too many ruffles! Or you will look like this:

I hope you liked them too! Are you going to add some ruffles to your wardrobe this summer? Or to your collection? Let me know what do you think.

Thanks Estefania for writing such an awesome blog! =)

And I had totally forgotten to announce it to the public (she already knows), the winner of the orange felt cake is twocheeseplease! Congratulations!
Currently I have another giveaway in this blog, a fantastic pendant. Please check it out!
